HC-V nominated

Kowa’s ruggedized HC-V Series nominated for Inspect Award 2017

Vote for Kowa and win a reflex camera

Kowa’s anti-shock and –vibration HC-V series was nominated for the Inspect Award in the category Vision. The Inspect Award is a reader’s choice award by the industry magazine Inspect. It will be awarded for the first time this year during the Vision show in Stuttgart.

A jury of industry experts has nominated solutions in the categories Vision, Automation and Control. The jury acknowledged the innovative design of the Kowa 1” C-mount HC-V lens series. The conventional locking screw system for fixing adjustable iris blades has been replaced with a system that utilizes robust interchangeable iris plates to set the F-Stop. A two way reversible nut is used to lock in the focus position. All internal lens elements of the lens are glued together for maximum stability.

Thus, the HC-V series guarantees more precise measurements in environments with strong vibration and shock making it perfectly suited for 3D measurement and robotics applications.

You can vote until September 30, 2016 and you have one vote for each category. By voting you will take part at the reader prize draw - a high quality reflex camera.
The products with the most votes will be the winners of their category. With your vote, you decide which product should be a winner.

Ruggedized 1 Inch 4MP

New Kowa 1“ HC-V Anti-Shock and Vibration Series

Kowa has added a new ruggedized 1” lens series to its portfolio. The new HC-V Series 4MP lens series allows measurements without pixel deviation even in high vibration and shock environments and when the lenses are tilted. Thus, it is ideal for applications that require increased durability and high optical performance such as robotics applications and 3D measurements.

This is made possible by the special design of the new Kowa ruggedized lenses. The conventional locking screw system for fixing adjustable iris blades has been replaced with a system that utilizes robust interchangeable iris plates to set the F-Stop. A two way reversible nut is used to lock in the focus position. All internal lens elements of the lens are glued together for maximum stability. In 2015 Kowa already released the ruggedized 2/3” JCM-V Series with the same design.

Kowa also offers on request to glue the internal glass elements of all series from a certain minimum order quantity.

Kowa lenses used for production of Wacken 3D – Louder than Hell

Kowa lenses used for production of Wacken 3D – Louder than Hell

Kowa’s JC10M Series has been used for the production of Wacken 3D - Louder Than Hell, the first 3-D documentary about the biggest heavy metal festival in the world. Wacken is a small village in Northern Germany where the most famous bands of the international heavy metal scene perform once a year at the legendary Wacken Rock Festival attracting almost 75,000 fans. Director Norbert Heitker, producer Tomas Erhart and their colleagues have tried in their production to catch the unique Wacken experience. They filmed the 2013 festival with 16 3D cameras around the clock in real stereo 3D. During the test phase the Berlin-based S3D and high-speed rental company Tectum tested together with Tom Erhart several suitable lenses for the production. In the end they decided to use Kowa’s JC10M Series for the 3D production. Christian Klimke of Tectum says: “We decided to use Kowa because they offer the best quality for C-mount lenses. We also compared the JC10M series with 16mm and 35mm PL mount lenses and the image quality of the JC10M series was better. Another factor in our decision was the small size and low weight of the Kowa lenses.” Wacken 3D – Louder than Hell will be in German cinemas in spring 2014. Additional information can be found here:
